2019 Kansas Veteran’s Memorial Bass Tournament

Free-No entry fee

The 15th Annual Kansas Veteran’s Memorial Bass Tournament in memory of all fallen Kansas service men and women will be Saturday, April 27 at the Coffey County Lake near Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation, Burlington, Kansas.

This tournament is to celebrate the freedom and pursuit of happiness that we enjoy as Americans. So join us in recognizing the fallen heroes of Kansas that gave the ultimate sacrifice for our American Freedom.

6 to 8:30 a.m.-Check-in and pre-tournament announcements

30 minutes after sunrise until 8:30 a.m., Tournament begins

12 p.m., Tournament end/weigh in/lunch and awards ceremony begin

2019 Military Appreciation Day – Time UPDATE !

URGENT!  TIME IS PUSHED UP TO 0900 for House Session on March 21!

Hello Korean War Veterans and families, Please share far and wide, to any interested.

On March 21, 2019, which is Military Appreciation Day at the Statehouse in Topeka, resolution will be introduced and read into the journal honoring Korean War veterans.

This will be in the House of Representatives.

Attached is an invite with details. Please share RSVPs for any who plan to attend, so we can collect close to 8:30 am and go together to the House gallery and watch.

WASHBURN UNIVERSITY CAMPUS:  MEETING WILL BE AT WASHBURN UNIVERSITY, 1700 WASHBURN. YOU CAN ENTER THE CAMPUS FROM THE 17TH STREET SIDE, MORGAN HALL IS FACING 17TH ST, BETWEEN COLLEGE AVE AND BOSWELL AVE.  MAP IS AT https://washburn.edu/about/files/campus-map.pdf

Parking will be available on the East side of Morgan. People can use reserved spaces since they are unused on weekends. ENTER through the main North front entrance (which is closest to the room) or the East entrance. If using the East entrance follow the hall way the West side of the building and take the stairs or elevator to the second floor. Room 202 is near the front of the building on the East side of the overlook to the first floor. If entering through the main entrance they should take the stairs on the West side to the second floor and proceed the room on the East side of the overlook.

Join us at the Museum of the Kansas National Guard, home of the “35th Infantry Division Hall of Fame” (125 SE Airport Drive, Topeka, KS 66619)

The 35th Division Association is providing a free meal for all WWII Veterans. Family and guests are $10 each for a catered meal by BARTz BarnBQ.

Heroes on the Water

There is still time to register for this event.

Heroes on the Water – Kansas Chapter is hosting a kayaking and fishing event on Saturday, Aug. 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Clinton Lake, Clinton Lake Marina, 1329 E 800 Road, Lawrence, KS 66049.

This event is FREE to Veterans (all military branches), First Responders and family members of both. It is a great way to spend the day with your family and your only expense will be getting to the lake.

Everything you will need to enjoy a day of kayaking and fishing will be provided to include kayaks, life jackets, fishing gear, bait, fishing license, food, drinks, and sunscreen. Lunch will be served and snacks and drinks will be provided during the day.

Registration information needs to be completed for each individual that will be participating in the event. If you are bringing five family members – each member should be registered individually.

Hello Korean War Veteran, You are invited to join fellow veterans, friends and patriots to honor Korean war Veterans at the Museum of the Kansas National Guard, 125 SE Airport Dr, Topeka, KS on June 23, 2018 at 9am.

Bring family and friends if you wish, to share the remembrance.
Also, bring any items of remembrance to share.

MARCH 3, 2018 RETIREE BRIEFING AND LUNCH!

On March 3, 2018, at the Museum of the Kansas National Guard, NGAKS and the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of Kansas will sponsor a Retiree Briefing for all Kansas National Guard Retired/Separated members who wished to attend. It will be a great time to see old friends, make new friends and learn about military retirement.

NGAKS and EANGKS leadership will attend and offer information as will representatives on other topics like Tricare, Prescriptions, Dental, Hospice and Nursing Home Care; Federal Long-Term Care Insurance programming; VA health benefits and eligibility; Assistance from the Kansas Commission on Veterans Affairs including Kansas Military cemeteries, markers, nursing homes; Military ID cards, military records and inheritance and gift taxes; KPERS; Armed Forces Vacation Club and Space-A Travel 190th ARW (Forbes) & McConnell AFB and more!

The highlight of the event will be a briefing by the Adjutant General s Office on the State of the Kansas Guard, Command Structure & Commanders, Units and Unit Locations, Staff Office Locations & Contacts, Future Plans for the Kansas Guard.

The event is to share legislative and policy initiatives to foster cooperation and move issues forward together, whenever possible.  Bring your initiatives and ideas with you to share, and invite any other VSOs or interested groups you are aware of.
